Today we are going to talk about some major types of plants

Trees

樹木

The tree is a woody plant that has a long main trunk and branches. Trees usually grow quite tall. 

樹是一種木本植物，主幹很長還有 樹枝。樹木通常長得很高。

 

(But bonsai trees don’t grow very tall.)

但是盆栽長得不高。

 

The life-span of the trees are very large.

樹木的壽命非常長。

 

Examples: Oak tree and mango tree

例子：橡樹和芒果樹

 

Herbs

草本植物

The herb is a short-sized plant with soft, green, delicate stem without the woody tissues.

草本植物是一種矮小植物，具有柔軟，綠色，嬌嫩的莖，沒有木質組織。

 

Herbs contain enough nutritional benefits, that have value as medicine, as an aroma, or as a way to add flavour to food.

草本植物具有足夠的營養，它們有作爲藥物，香料或者為食物調味的價值。

 

Examples: Tomato and wheat

例子：番茄和小麥

 

Shrubs

灌木

Shrubs are medium-sized, woody plants taller than herbs and shorter than a tree. 

灌木是中等大小的木本植物，比草本植物高，比樹木矮。

 

Their features include bushy, hard, and woody stems with many branches.

它們的特徵包括濃密，堅硬的木質莖和許多分枝。

 

Examples: Rose and Lemon

例子：玫瑰和檸檬

 

Creepers

匍匐植物

Creepers, are plants that creep on the ground.

匍匐植物是在地上匍匐生長的植物

 

They have very fragile, long, thin stems. 

它們的莖非常脆弱，又長又細。

The stem is unable to stand erect and does not support the weight of the plant. 

它的莖不能直立也支撐不了植物本身的重量。

 

Examples: Watermelon and sweet potato.

例子：西瓜和紅薯

 

Climbers

攀緣植物

Climbers have a very thin, long and weak stem which cannot stand upright, 

攀緣植物有著非常細，長和脆弱的莖，它們的莖不能直立。

 

but they can use external support to grow vertically and carry their weight.

但是它們可以靠著外部的支撐來垂直生長並承受它們的重量。

 

These types of plants use special structures called tendrils to climb.

這類型的植物使用卷鬚的特殊結構來攀爬生長。

 

They climb up trees and other tall objects.

它們攀爬上樹和其它高大的物體。

 

Examples: Grapevine and runner beans. 

例子：葡萄藤和荷包豆

Trees樹木

• woody plant 木本植物
• long main trunk 主幹很長
• branches 樹枝
• tall 長得很高
• large life span 長壽
